My wife and I are the owners of Casacardonal. We have been coming to the East Cape for over 40 years and purchased the property in El Cardonal 10 years ago, where we built our house over a six year period.

The issue of safety in Mexico has been in the news quite a bit, and we know it is difficult sometimes to separate the crime areas from other areas. We can happily say that in over 40 years of visiting the La Paz and East Cape area, we have never had one problem or personal issue with anything other than feeling 100% safe. We have always been treated with respect and kindness from the wonderful people along the East Cape and other places in Baja we have traveled.

We have four children who are now grown and have taken them over the years on most of our trips. Now, the best testimonial we can give is, we take our two grandsons ages 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 and show them the wonders of the area and the Sea of Cortez. These two boys are a very precious part of our lives and we would not be taking them to our house, unless it was absolutely a 100% safe environment.

El Cardonal is a small Baja community, which we feel is safer than where we live in San Diego. We leave our doors open, passports and cash in a drawer in El Cardonal and feel very comfortable. Americans have houses up and down the beach from ours and go out and enjoy kayaking, fishing, snorkeling or what ever activity for the day, knowing our houses are safe.
